During a pow wow today with CEO of Celebrity Baby Trends, Rachel Urso, we discussed life changing habits that we have made a priority in our own homes. As much as we stay on top of what is needed to be known, there is something to be said about cutting off some of the noise that drags us down day in and day out, like the negative news we hear. This is where the American thought writer and spiritual movement leader, Ernest Holmes, came into play. We cannot move forward if we don’t make changes to our perception. Truly, “where the mind goes energy flows.” We want love, peace and happiness in our lives and it can be attained simply. Yes, it can!
Appreciate what you do have and truly create a life you love. If you love the beach, make the time to go more often. Want more fresh air, take a walk. Want to be more positive, surround yourself by those that have the same philosophy and inspire each other. There might be people around you that may not be aspiring the same feeling and that is okay. You are not here to change them, you are here to take care of you! We often forget that. It’s not a selfish act, it’s the same concept as the instructions you get on an airplane. You cannot help others until you put the face mask on for yourself.
As you can imagine, it’s no surprise, I can relate this to sleep. It all ties in together. You may have heard that your daily bedtime routine is important. Though that is true, how you start your day is even more crucial in order to attain blissful sleep. Below, I share my morning ritual. It sets my mindset for the day, which trickles down to how I end my day and make sleep a priority.
My morning ritual consists of two steps only – that is all you need, super simple!
1) Set my alarm clock for two hours before the kids wake up – around 5 a.m.
2) Focus only on self care during those two hours and eliminate technology
How you start your day, truly sets the tone for the day. During those two hours this is what I do:
1) Wash my face
2) Put on workout clothes
3) Yoga Nidra for 25 minutes
4) Read pages from an inspirational book that will move me forward or listen to an inspirational mentor
Super simple, you see?
Why have I made it a ritual you may ask? Well, for starters, I was tired of being tired and having a day that dragged. If morning rituals work for Oprah Winfrey, Tony Robbins and Hal Elrod, just to name a few highly successful leaders, why can’t it work for me? Seriously, since implementing, I have tons of energy and more patience with my kids because I start my day focusing on improving me. My day flows so much better and with that momentum I make sure that my day ends on a high note by making sleep a priority.
Can you believe that creating a simple morning ritual can really bring you closer to blissful sleep? All it takes is a change in how you think about things. Well, believe it! Make time to nourish you. If you don’t, no one else will! Homework for those that want to live a fuller, happier and more blissful life, and of course, attain blissful sleep: We would love to hear what your morning ritual is and if you decide to implement any of the above.
